I'm Suzanne Duckett, a lifelong Londoner and a journalist, and I've spent years working for some of the UK's leading magazines and newspapers. I love this city, and I love great writing. Onolla stands for Online Now, Offline Later – our way of making sense of how we live, work, play, connect and read. Our glorious, feel‑good print magazine is made for slower moments and more leisurely, deeper reading, designed to be picked up time and time again to guide you through the season.
Ink on paper is powerful and, thankfully, I can feel it coming back into play, which is why I am extremely proud of our Capital Letters serious of published and live editorial - our events off the back of our pages. I hope it will reclaim letter writing, a crucial human connection that digital is eroding. As a letter writer myself, I love that putting pen to paper creates something considered, intimate and real.
Handwriting also requires the receiver to take more time and make more effort with the sender’s words, a mutually reciprocal and beneficial act of connection, even over difficult subject matter.
Capital Letters invites extraordinary people who have been born in, shaped, challenged and inspired by London to handwrite from the heart, to someone or something that matters to them, to spark hope and positive change. Our three scribes in every issue, and ongoing events, never disappoint.
