The power of new moon bathing

Allow your mind to really wander – this is about dreaming big not sensible box ticking. What do you really want out of life right now?

Relaxing soak with a side of intention setting? A deep cleanse for your mind, body and soul? Just add water,

Our Moon Editor, Emma Howarth says 'there’s nothing quite like a long hot soak at the end of a hard day and yet how often do we tell ourselves that we’re too busy, too hectic, too pushed for time to even think about turning on those taps?'

'An easy moon bath ritual can tune you into the magic of the moon, give you a monthly fresh start and ideal time to gather your thoughts and set some intentions for the coming weeks/months' says Emma.

This is your invitation from nature to spend some time contemplating your goals, plans and intentions for the coming cycle as you soak under the influence of the new moon. It's powerful stuff,

What you’ll need:

  • Yourself
  • Some time
  • A bath full of hot water
  • Bath salts
  • Candle & lighter
  • A pen and paper.

What to do:

On the night of the new moon (or as close as possible) run yourself a bath, pour in some salt and light your candle.

Spend some time contemplating your goals, plans and intentions for the coming cycle as you soak. Allow your mind to really wander – this is about dreaming big not sensible box ticking. What do you really want out of life right now? Once you’ve decided what your intention is gaze at the flickering flame of the candle and repeat it out loud three times as you soak.

Then close your eyes and visualise your life when this intention becomes reality. Imagine everything in detail – how you would feel, how you would look, what your life would be like.

Hop out of the bath, dry off and write your intention down on the piece of paper. Repeat it three times before you blow out the candle.

Sleep with the piece of paper holding your intention under your pillow.

And allow yourself to believe in the power of your intention and the magic and gifts it can bring.
